Make Good Use of Cocktail Syrups This Summer

We’re sure you’ll agree there’s nothing like an ice-cool cocktail to chill you out in the sweltering sun. Fortunately, you no longer have to pay over the odds at a fancy bar to get a top-tier classic cocktail during the summer. Our cocktail syrups are the secret weapon for aspiring mixologists.

Versatile, easy-to-use and unabashedly sweet, our range of cocktail mixer syrups don’t hold back. In this article, we’ll delve deeper into how you can use cocktail syrups to level up your summer drinks, as well as which flavour profiles will suit your tastebuds best.

Let’s get to it.

What are the best syrups for cocktails?

Every bartender knows that a dollop of sweetness is the crucial ingredient in most cocktail recipes, and cocktail syrups are a fantastic way to bring that sugariness to a concoction. They also introduce a weighty texture, help balance out flavours, and add some additional complexity.

These three syrups from our Barista Collection range have been created with cocktails at the forefront of our minds:

Caramel,
Vanilla,
Hazelnut

Each with its own unique characteristics, these three flavours offer something for everyone and are perfect for taking an already refreshing cocktail to the next level. From the velvety texture of caramel to the bold, sharp hazelnut taste, the potential is limitless.

3 of our favourite cocktail recipes

When summer comes around, spreading out on a lounger with an icy, syrup-infused cocktail in your hand can’t be beaten. Plenty of classic cocktails can benefit from introducing syrups, but we’ve gathered three of our personal favourite syrup recipes for the sizzling summer months ahead.

Watermelon & Lime Blast

We couldn’t think of a more refreshing fruit for a scorching day than watermelon. That’s why we created our Watermelon & Lime Blast cocktail syrup recipe.

Taking just five minutes to make, simply blend up watermelon chunks in a blender, squeeze in some lime juice and add Tate & Lyle Golden Caster sugar and vodka to a couple of glasses. The cherry on top? A squirt of caramel syrup to bring a smooth texture to the mix.

Summer fruits prosecco slushie

A glass of prosecco is a prerequisite as soon as the sun comes out. However, our Summer Fruits Prosecco Slushie recipe takes things to the next level.

It couldn’t be easier to make. Blend up some berries, ice cubes and Tate & Lyle’s Golden Caster Sugar until nice and smooth, before topping up each glass with chilled prosecco. Vanilla is the perfect flavour to introduce to this particular cocktail, so be sure to add some of our vanilla syrup to the mix when blending.

Spice Island Rum Punch

Wonderfully flavoursome and undeniably refreshing, we’re confident our Spice Island Rum Punch recipe will quickly become your go-to cocktail syrup recipe each summer.

It’s also super straightforward to make. Just add lime juice, grated ginger, a pinch of nutmeg and Tate & Lyle Demerara sugar to two tumbler glasses and give them a mix. Once the granulated sugar is dissolved, fill the glasses with ice cubes and pour in some dark rum.

Et voilà! You’ve got the ultimate summer cocktail in your hands. To accentuate those sharp Caribbean spices, a squirt of hazelnut syrup can make all the difference. Close your eyes, take a sip and you’ll be transported straight to a sunny Caribbean island (metaphorically, of course).
